Rituals Of a Matriarchal Utopia
solo show @ HGW Supporting Queer Arts, Athens, 2023
Rituals have the power to connect the everyday with the sacred. In Bacas' installation, everyday objects are transformed into ritual artefacts. A space is created in which personal and collective processes of healing and imagination can come together. Regeneration becomes a sacred practice; cyclical physicality becomes visible as a triggering force of recovery and self-care, and thus as a source of resistance against capitalist models of exploitation of the body, as well as the equation of self-worth with productivity.
